Blaise Keita Commits to Nebraska

In the latest edition of 'P.I. Pulse,' top JuCo prospect Blaise Keita announces his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers:

Fresh off of a win over Penn State, Nebraska secured a commitment from 6’10” Blaise Keita of undefeated Coffeyville CC, the #5 JuCo in the country. Keita, who played for national power Sunrise Christian and MoKan in HS, committed to Coach Fred Hoiberg over offers from Minnesota and Oklahoma State as well as interest from Kansas and Arizona State.

“I’m excited to go play for Nebraska and coach Fred Hoiberg. I wanted to commit early so that I could focus on my academics. They’ve been recruiting me hard since I’ve been at Coffeyville. I like how he develops players and his NBA background. I can’t wait to get to Nebraska and be a part of the team,” said Nebraska’s most recent commit, Blaise Keita.

Blaise Keita, a native of Mali, will join a consensus Top-25 2021 recruiting class, led by five-star guard Bryce McGowens. Keita, regarded as one of the top players in JuCo basketball, will have three years of eligibility for the Cornhuskers. Keita, who is averaging 12.1 points and 8.1 rebounds for the Red Ravens of Coffeyville, provides a strong complement to the strengths of fellow incoming big man 6’10” Wilhelm Briedenbach of Mater Dei. Playing for the Mali U-19 team at the FIBA World Cup, Keita also brings experience against averaged a double-double (10.2 points, 10.3 rebounds) against international competition.

Coffeyville head coach Jay Herkelman added, “Blaise is a very dedicated and hard-working player. He has the ability to score in many ways, is a good defender and a tenacious rebounder. Blaise will continue to improve as he gets stronger and continues to mature. He is just at the beginning of what will be a very successful college career.”
