Gildas Giménez Q&A

The 2007-born Spanish wing from Real Madrid recently met with Pro Insight’s Florian Kurth following the first weeks of the season, talking about his beginnings in basketball, development focus and picture ahead.

For the next installment of the Pro Insight Q&A series, we present 2026 prospect Gildas Giménez, from Madrid, Spain:

Pro Insight: You had an impressive showing at the U17 World Cup in Istanbul, Turkey. What was your impression of that event?

Gildas Giménez: It was an incredible tournament. I think it was good for me to see the level of my class and compete against the best talents of my generation.

PI: How would you rate your own performance?

GG: I think it was great — I really helped the team on offense and defense in all the matches. I really liked my game against Turkey.

PI: How would you describe your game to someone who has never seen you play?

GG: I am a shooting guard/small forward that can generate for myself or my teammates — I am not selfish and I am a good defender, too.

PI: What would you say are your biggest strengths and weaknesses, right now?

GG: My biggest strength I think is my defense and physical and my current weakness is my three-point shooting.

PI: Do you have a development focus in individual workouts right now?

GG: Yeah now I'm working in my pull-up and my three-point shooting.

PI: How did you initially get into basketball?

GG: When I was young, my parents saw that I was taller than the rest of the kids and they brought me to the team of my school.

PI: What do you like to do when you aren’t playing basketball? Any other hobbies?

GG: I really like to play chess and play video games.

PI: Can you imagine going to college one day in the U.S.?

GG: Yeah, of course — that is what I want in a couple of years.

PI: What are some of your long term goals when it comes to basketball?

GG: To make the NBA and do a perform well in the league.

PI: Where do you see yourself in five years?

GG: Playing in one of the highest levels of basketball.

PI: Do you have any favorite music artists?

GG: No, I don’t usually listen to music.

PI: Do you like to watch much basketball on TV?

GG: I watch a bit of basketball — especially EuroLeague and NBA.

PI: Personally, would you say you are more an introvert or extrovert?

GG: Introvert.

PI: Who is the most important person in your life?

GG: My parents!

PI: Last question – what can we expect from you and your team, this season?

GG: First to improve as much as I can and second to win all the tournaments.
