Section 7, put on by the Arizona Basketball Coaches Association, is objectively one of the most impressive, expansive summer high school tournaments in the country. It was held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, over Father’s Day weekend and Pro Insight was on hand to cover the event. In between games, we caught up with Koa Peat, the talented forward out of Perry High School (AZ), who also plays for the Compton Magic (CA) program on the adidas 3SSB circuit. Throughout the event, Peat highlighted his versatility, confidence, shot-making ability, and upside in front of hundreds of college coaches.

As part of the Pro Insight Q&A series, Peat touched on his background, his all-around game, his recruitment update, and more.

For the next installment of the Pro Insight Q&A series, we present 2025 prospect Koa Peat, from Chandler, Arizona:

Pro Insight: What have you been trying to show coaches this summer?

Koa Peat: Just that I can do it all. I can play every position, have an all-around game, play defense...I’m a two-way player.

PI: Talk a bit about your background.

KP: I’m from Chandler, Arizona, and there’s seven of us in my family. They all play or have played D-1 sports.

PI: What other sports do they play?

KP: One of my brothers plays in the NFL and my other brothers play D-1 football. My dad played in the NFL.

PI: Did you have any interest in football? What made you focus on basketball?

KP: Just because of my size and how I’m built. I like basketball more than football.

PI: Describe your game...what are some of your strengths?

KP: Just everything...passing, handling, shooting. I have an all-around game.

PI: What about some improvement areas?

KP: I’m working on mostly just finding ways to get in the zone and block everything out.

PI: What about some underrated aspects of your game?

KP: My passing.

PI: Who are some players you like to model your game after?

KP: I like watching Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James.

PI: How do you view your role at the next level?

KP: I view myself as a guard.

PI: What’s the latest with your recruitment?

KP: I just picked up offers from Texas Tech, Washington, Kansas, etc. (Note: also holds offers from Arizona, ASU, USC, UCLA, and Texas)

PI: What are you looking for in your school of choice?

KP: Just the best program that’s good for me and my family.

PI: Would you consider any pro options?

KP: Yeah, if I get one.
