Approximately half of the New England gyms we've been through over the past few months

In the latest edition of ‘P.I. Pulse’, Pro Insight’s Philip Kirsch and Zach Welch tackled a large chunk of the New England high school basketball landscape for another take on our 4th-annual ‘Open Gym Tour’ (check out our 2024, 2023 and 2022 renditions, for reference). This year, the tour spanned over 25 open gyms and a few events around the area. This is just the beginning of our coverage during the 2025-26 cycle, so be on the lookout for continued New England basketball content throughout the season.

It seems like just yesterday we were wrapping up the 2024-25 season at Western New England University and turning the page to AAU. Blink and all of the sudden it’s the fall and open gym season. Since early September, we have been in and out of gyms across the New England area from Maine down to Delaware and everywhere in between. Open gym season typically provides a first look into the offseason development, understanding the names and faces and seeing who will be expected to fill the leadership void both vocally and as the team's best player. While we were able to hit a wide variety of schools and open gyms, scheduling conflicts prevent us from being able to hit every single school.

Below, we will discuss some of the national names to know, the underrated and potentially unseen prospects, and some of the underclassmen that are making noise within the region. We will work alphabetically through each section.

National Names to Know

Kayden Allen | Long Island Lutheran (NY) | 6-6 Wing | 2026 *Committed: Cincinnati

Allen joins a loaded Long Island Lutheran squad armed with two years of prior EYBL Scholastic experience under his belt. The Cincy commit has long been a name to know in the class, and he appears to be in top form headed into his final high school season. He’s in incredible shape, looks as polished as ever with his pull-up game, and brings a level of toughness that could be contagious for his teammates. We’ll be excited to track how Allen fits into this talented Crusaders group.

Dywane Chess | St. George’s School (RI) | 6-4 Wing | 2026 *Committed: Marist

St. George’s graduates multiple members from the 2024-25 team, but they do return one of their best in Marist-commit Dywane Chess, and he and the Dragons will once again be among the favorites to win the ISL. Chess is a powerfully-built wing who impacts the game in a productive way every time he’s on the floor. While the on-ball offensive effectiveness has improved with additional ball handling opportunities, the defense and trademark high motor have remained at a high level. In the transfer portal era, Chess is a prime candidate to eventually transfer up.

Quinn Costello | Newman School (MA) | 6-9 Forward | 2026 *Committed: Michigan

Quinn Costello was arguably the biggest winner throughout the entire spring and summer AAU season, rising up the national ranks and seeing his recruitment increase significantly while playing with Middlesex Magic on the Under Armour circuit. The Michigan commit is a big time floor-spacer with consistency, touch and a quick release from deep – making him extremely effective as a pick-and-pop threat or as a short-roller. Costello and the rest of his Newman teammates will look to repeat as NEPSAC AAA champions with another loaded roster.

TJ Crumble | Long Island Lutheran (NY) | 6-7 Forward | 2026 *Committed: North Texas

One of the Mean Green’s highest-rated recruits of all time, Crumble is a unique talent, whose mismatch scoring ability and rebounding prowess are major value adds. He combines poise and polish with physicality to thrive down low, while being athletic and skilled enough to beat bigger defenders, too. He also has stepped in as a day-one leader for this Crusaders team. Keep an eye on Crumble as a major piece of Long Island Lutheran’s star senior trio this season.

Theo Edema | Cushing Academy (MA) | 6-11 Big | 2027

In the 2027 class, Theo Edema continues to track as one of the top-50 guys in the entire country. The Cushing big man enters his third year with the Penguins and continues to sharpen his skills and improve his overall game. Edema is a vocal defensive anchor who impacts winning with his instincts both as a shot blocker and as a rebounder. Edema is continuing to show strides in improvement across his offensive game, including a growing ability to knock down a catch-and-shoot 3. It remains to be seen how effective he will be from the outside, but his effort to improve in that area is intriguing.

Alex Egbuonu | Lawrence Academy (MA) | 6-6 Forward | 2026 *Committed: Marquette

Lawrence Academy forward and Marquette-bound Alex Egbuonu will embark on his fourth season with the Spartans after turning down multiple opportunities to play elsewhere. Egbuonu remains one of the youngest 2026 recruits, but his impact is one of the highest. During the summer, we saw the offensive versatility that he possesses from the outside marksmanship to the ability to use his powerful frame to finish down low. Egbuonu will be the offensive engine for his team once again.

Jasiah Jervis | Archbishop Stepinac (NY) | 6-4 Guard | 2026 *Committed: Michigan State

Part of an increasingly strong 2026 recruiting class for the Spartans, Jervis seems to look better every time we see him. While he’s always been a polished scorer, he seems to have taken another leap, using his footwork and craft to create openings at all three levels. Beyond this, he’s become more well-rounded as a creator and defender. Jervis and the Crusaders will be looking to make history with a run at their fourth-straight CHSAA Class AA Championship.

Moussa Kamissoko | Long Island Lutheran (NY) | 6-8 Forward | 2027

Stepping into his second year with one of the top teams in the country, Kamissoko is ready to make more of a mark on the court and as a leader. One of the top-ranked players in a strong 2027 class, he boasts one of the most promising sets of physical tools and athletic traits in the country. He is fluid, long, and explosive; he’s already an absolute terror in transition. Given how much talent is around him, it will be fascinating to see how Kamissoko develops this season and finds ways to complement such high-end talent on both ends of the floor.

Ater Maker Bol | CATS Academy (MA) | 6-7 Forward | 2027

One of the many newcomers on the CATS Academy team as they begin their tenure as an EYBL Scholastic team is Ater Maker Bol. Coming over from Brewster Academy (NH), Ater immediately stands out with his combination of length, fluidity in his movement and his shooting ability. Ater has the ability to create off the bounce to generate his own offense, while also being able to operate functionally off of the ball, utilizing pin downs, or stagger screens to create space between himself and the defender. Ater will immediately become one of, if not the best, offensive weapon for CATS Academy this season with the freedom to operate as the main option.

Dylan Mingo | Long Island Lutheran (NY) | 6-5 Guard | 2026

Entering his fourth year at LuHi, Mingo is poised to be in the spotlight as a leader both on and off the court for one of the very best teams in the country. What stands out the most with him is the fact that he just keeps improving, while also being uber impactful in every context he finds himself in, all while being one of the youngest players in the class. He sets the tone on the defensive end with his intensity, quick hands, and agility, but he’s also a force to be reckoned with as a slasher on the other end. Widely considered one of the best players in the nation, all eyes will be on Mingo this season – especially with his upcoming commitment.

Nicolas Mitrovic | CATS Academy (MA) | 6-11 Big | 2027

One of the more intriguing prospects within the New England area is another CATS Academy member, Nicolas Mitrovic. Mitrovic brings a positive court presence, floor-stretching ability and a high effort level to the floor – all intriguing value props, especially for someone at his 6’11 size. Playing on the EYBL scholastic team will expose Mitrovic to some of the highest level of consistent competition he has faced to date, allowing him to improve his overall game, comfort level and hopefully add some additional toughness to his game.

Ryan Moesch | Cushing Academy (MA) | 5-11 Guard | 2026 *Committed: Siena

Siena commit and Cushing Academy guard Ryan Moesch returns for his second and final season with the Penguins where they will look to capitalize and improve off of a semifinal appearance in the 2025 NEPSAC Class AA tournament. Moesch brings a real edge to the game which sets the tone for the rest of his team. The slashing ability, wiggle, and crafty finishing ability, in addition to the live dribble and deceptive passing, make Moesch one of the most exciting players to watch in all of the East Coast.

Lucas Morillo | Newman School (MA) | 6-6 Guard | 2026 *Committed: Illinois

Illinois commit and Newman School attendee Lucas Morillo enters his second season with the program after winning a NEPSAC AAA championship in 2025. Morillo, a big guard, has always been a smart operator off the ball, filling open lanes and providing open opportunities for his teammates. At Newman, Morillo has continued to gain more experience as an on-ball operator, initiating actions for others while also showcasing his touch and skill as a shot creator, especially in the mid-range area.

Patrick Otey | St. Thomas More School (CT) | 6-4 Guard | 2027

Otey returns to the Northeast after spending a season at Overtime Elite. Otey will look to take over the reigns at St. Thomas More after the graduation of London Jemison. Otey is the highest nationally-ranked member of the 2027 class for STM. He will likely operate more on the ball with the freedom to utilize some connective passing abilities as well as his crafty finishing prowess.

Antonio Pemberton | Brewster Academy (NH) | 6-0 Guard | 2027

Pemberton has consistently “played up” throughout his career, which has benefited him as he now competes against opponents his own age. Pemberton is a shifty guard who can get to his spots with the ability to create his own shot or generate opportunities for others. He’s an effective scorer from all three levels and gets great elevation on his jumper. Defensively, although he may be a little undersized, he competes and fights at the POA and through mismatches. A second year in the Brewster backcourt will only increase Pemberton’s effectiveness against elite competition.

Adonis Ratliff | Archbishop Stepinac (NY) | 7-0 Forward | 2026 *Committed: USC

Son of NBA veteran Theo Ratliff, Adonis may have one of the strongest claims at the title of “unicorn” in high school basketball. He is a true seven-footer who is at his best operating on the perimeter. He is a knockdown shooter with out-of-the-gym range and some budding ball skills to match. He also has the physical tools to be an impactful defender. Having recovered from injury, he is due to have a loud final year at Stepinac before he goes off to USC.

Darius Ratliff | Archbishop Stepinac (NY) | 7-0 Big | 2026 *Committed: USC

Adonis’ twin and fellow future Trojan, Darius is another big man with a unique two-way skillset. While he is more of a true big than his brother, he is still an extremely potent pick-and-pop option, while also bringing value as a rim runner and rebounder on the interior. After seeing a major uptick in recruitment coming off a summer dedicated to injury rehab, Ratliff should be fresh and ready to help lead the Crusaders in pursuit of a fourth-straight league title this year.

Josh Rivera | Archbishop Stepinac (NY) | 6-5 Guard | 2027

Rivera is set to be a key player this season, contributing to the Crusaders' ongoing dynasty..

Many players aspire to be "big guards," but few can lay as convincing a claim to that title as Rivera. While he’s still developing, he has an uncanny set of guard skills for his size. He has some stellar passing vision and manipulation, while developing a real comfort operating in the pick-and-roll. We would not be surprised to see an uptick in Rivera’s recruitment after a year working as an integral part of one of the best cores in the country.

Adama Tambedou | Putnam Science Academy (CT) | 6-8 Forward  | 2026 *Committed: Maryland

Putnam Science Academy will once again be among the favorites to win the National Prep Championship. Although they have lost a significant portion of their championship team from last year, they do return Adama Tambedou. The Maryland commit figures to be a crucial component to the success of this PSA team. Tambedou is a high-motor, athletic forward who is still raw in his overall game. He is a constant threat in transition, but has continued to add more skill and nuance to his on-ball creation and scoring abilities.

Abdou Toure | Notre Dame HS (CT) | 6-6 Wing | 2026 *Committed: Arkansas

Arkansas commit Abdou Toure out of Notre Dame-West Haven (CT) has continued to see his stock rise after a momentum-changing 2024 summer playing with Guinea’s FIBA U17 squad, winning a second-straight state title, eclipsing 1,000 points and becoming the school’s all-time scoring leader. Toure is electrifying in the open floor and someone who imposes his will as a driver and slasher and will continue to be an impact guy at the next level. On his drives to the rim, he maintains body control to absorb bumps and avoid potential shot blockers. Toure is already an established national name, but there are still a few areas for him to continue to raise his game to another level, leading to a ton of excitement about his long-term potential.

Kamari Whyte | Vermont Academy (VT) | 6-4 Guard | 2027

Up in Saxtons River at Vermont Academy, Kamari Whyte begins his second season at the school. Whyte continued to flash his impressive skillset throughout the summer with New Heights and will be looking to expand upon them. Known for his size, strength and will to get to the rim, Whyte will look to/need to continue to improve his outside shooting, especially as he begins to play against bigger and more athletic defenders and bigs. Nonetheless, Whyte is expected to be a primary scoring leader for Vermont Academy in the upcoming season and one of the top players in the region for the junior class.

Under-the-Radar Names

Given the amount of high quality talent in such a small area, there are bound to be players on each team that feel under-the-radar, underrated or unseen. Talking to people throughout the region, it seems as if this list could be 30-40 deep with seemingly each team having a guy that feels overlooked. Especially in today’s NIL and transfer portal era where college coaches prefer older, more experienced players, many high school players seem to go about a level or two below where they naturally would have and should have landed in a “typical” year. When you look at the landscape of today’s freshman, you will see a litany of players that played in the prep school ranks. Those players that played against top level competition on a daily basis are often finding the adjustment to college to be a little smoother than their peers, relative to expectations. This next section touches on a small group of the more under-the-radar 2026 and 2027 players throughout the region. Note: this is not an exhaustive list.

Alonzo Archbold | Hotchkiss School (CT) | 6-6 Wing | 2027

A newcomer to the prep scene this year is 2027 Alonzo Archbold of Hotchkiss School (CT). We saw Archbold back in the summer at the NEPSAC Showcase at Babson. He brings a lot of endearing intangibles such as the infectious high energy level of his game and his ability to jump into a new team and showcase leadership tendencies. Archbold is continuing to grow in his skills with the ball in his hands, attacking closeouts as more of a straight-line driver to ultimately finish at the rim or operate in the mid-range area. He embraces whatever defensive matchup is in front of him and with his length, he can become an impactful defender.

Desmond Bellot, Jr. | CATS Academy (MA) | 6-3 Guard | 2026 *Committed: Fordham

Continuing with the guards, 2026 Fordham commit Desmond Bellot has always seemingly flown under the radar. Bellot is an absolute menace on the defensive end with a high motor, lateral quickness and intensity to always be an impactful defender. He plays with a competitive streak and always feels like he beats his man to their spot. He is a high-floor guard who, during our viewings, has continued to increase his vocal presence on the floor leading his team through a variety of drills. Bellot is continuing to improve on the offensive end through his ability to maintain advantages in half-court settings. Additionally, the outside shot continues to develop as evidenced by shooting over 45% from 3 at Peach Jam this past summer. All of this to say – Fordham ended up with a really talented player who projects to be an impactful two-way contributor.

Jayden Harrington | New Hampton School (NH) | 6-5 Guard | 2026

Jayden Harrington moves into a more prominent role for the 2025-26 season for New Hampton, after the program arguably lost their top three players and four of their top six. This season, there is a need for someone to pick up the leadership and on-court impact that the previous team had – Harrington, feels prime to answer both calls and has continued to improve all facets of his game. The shooting has long been a strength of his, but we have also seen a concerted effort to improve the on-ball skills to be able to operate as more of a creator. On the leadership front, during our visit to New Hampton, Harrington was injured, but was still the loudest one in the gym. He was calling out directions, teammates for lacking effort, providing a motivating voice all while being in street clothes. He seems ready for a strong final run with the Huskies this winter.

Jaylen Hunter-Coleman | Newman School (MA) | 5-11 Guard | 2027

Transferring from Northfield Mount Hermon, ‘JHC’ has the ability to take over lead guard duties for the reigning NEPSAC AAA champions. Even though he is only around six-feet-tall, JHC epitomizes playing bigger than one’s listed height. Last year he averaged over 8 (!) rebounds per game. He consistently brings toughness and an intense brand of in-your-face defense, easily establishing himself as a vocal leader for Newman. The outside shot still remains a work in progress, but the shiftiness and burst allow him to beat defenders off the bounce. His new surroundings should attract more attention to his game and highlight the value he can provide at the next level.

Hassan Koureissi | Archbishop Stepinac (NY) | 6-3 Guard | 2026 *Committed: Fordham

Fordham is set to bolster its backcourt next season with the addition of Hassan Koureissi, who will join Bellot as a key 2026 recruit. Similarly to Bellot, his value starts with his ability to make an impact on the defensive end. He is a lockdown POA defender who also has a knack for mucking things up off the ball. Pair that with his high motor and connective skills on the offensive end, and he has a scalable two-way kill set. Stepping into the lead guard role for one of the best teams in the country this season, Koureissi should have ample opportunity to put his versatility on display.

Jamaal McKnight | Long Island Lutheran (NY) | 5-10 Guard | 2027

One of two key transfers to Long Island Lutheran by way of DeMatha, McKnight is ready to announce himself on the national stage in EYBL Scholastic play. He is the definition of small but mighty. There are few point guards who bring his defensive intensity and acumen, while also being able to run such a high-caliber offense. He is lightning-quick and knows how to convert his paint touches into good looks for himself and his teammates. Beyond all else, McKnight makes an impact by being a vocal leader and an absolute gym rat. He’ll be a big part in leading a Crusaders team that has high expectations coming into the year.

Michael McNamara | Thayer Academy (MA) | 6-7 Wing | 2027

McNamara is a scoring forward with fluid movement skills and an increasingly polished offensive arsenal to match, despite still having more physical maturing to go through. He continues to develop a three-level scoring ability and has worked to increasingly tighten his handle over time. McNamara is more comfortable rebounding and initiating plays during offensive possessions than in previous years, and he will be one of the go-to options for Thayer this season, which should attract additional interest from college programs.

Darien Moore | Brewster Academy (NH) | 6-3 Guard | 2027 *Committed: Seton Hall

Moore is a strong-framed combo guard who utilizes his tools to his advantage on both ends. He can fill a variety of roles on the floor and is someone who’s impactful with or without the ball in his hands. His jumper is respectable enough that it allows him to attack closeouts and get downhill. Defensively, he utilizes his chest to wall offensive players up on their drives and prevent penetration. Moore probably doesn’t get enough credit outside of the Brewster team for his contributions, but projects as a steady, hard-nosed guard at the next level.

Tyler Newsom | St. Luke’s School (CT) | 6-5 Guard | 2027

2027 St. Luke’s guard Tyler Newsom was someone who stood out throughout the NEPSAC Summer Sessions. A coach’s son, Newsom was effective throughout that particular weekend as a high motor player who defended without fouling and showcased some defensive versatility as he has the size to guard up the lineup. Newsom is an excellent rebounder and consistently leads his team in rebounds. As it turns out, Newsom was playing through a wrist injury which hampered some of his effectiveness from the outside, but he showcased his body strength and control on drives as a slasher. We are eager to track Newsom long-term especially as he begins to play against other players that are stronger and more athletic than he is.

Ethan Njenga | St. George’s School (RI) | 6-0 Guard | 2027

Another member of St. George’s who feels overlooked at times is Ethan Njenga. Njenga is a lighter-framed guard who plays with an advanced feel for the game. He’s a skilled ballhandler who keeps the ball on a string and limits unnecessary turnovers. He impacts the game offensively as a slasher and paint-touch generator and plays off of two feet. Njenga is a high-impact rebounder on both ends, especially offensively where he routinely creates multiple second chance opportunities for his teammates. Defensively, he functions as a crafty on-ball pest, who loves to apply pressure 94 feet and make his presence known.

Christian Proctor | Long Island Lutheran (NY) | 6-7 Wing | 2027

McKnight’s former DMV running mate is joining him in Long Island this year, and is ready to carve out a niche of his own among an extremely talented roster. Proctor is plenty used to complementing elite talent by identifying his team’s weaknesses and focusing on patching those holes for them. While he may not be a high-usage on-ball player this year, he brings a level of defensive intensity and two-way versatility that should allow him to consistently find ways to make an impact. Look for Proctor to become a bigger name over time as he gets to continue to show his skeleton key skillset.

Roy Rojo | Berkshire School (MA) | 6-1 Guard | 2027

The 2025-26 season will mark Rojo’s first in the New England area, after previously competing with NBA Academy Latin America. Rojo joins a Berkshire team where he expects to slot into one of the starting backcourt positions. Rojo is a heady guard that’s also a terrific outside shooter. The son of a coach, he understands how to run an offense and get his teammates in the right position to succeed. Rojo will be expected to create scoring opportunities for himself and others while being a reliable outside shooting threat.

Oesoemana Sacko | St. Francis Prep (NY) | 6-6 Forward | 2026 *Committed: Fairfield

Big O”, as he is affectionately known, is due for a big season in his final year at St. Francis Prep. He is an absolute physical specimen who knows how to impose his will on whoever he lines up against. While he is at his best on the interior, both as a rebounder and finisher, he is actively developing a versatile two-way skillset. He looks increasingly comfortable as a perimeter shooter, playmaker, and ball handler. Given the growth curve he’s on, his potential may be even higher than anticipated. He could end up being an excellent get for the Stags.

Kamai Samuels | Putnam Science Academy (CT) | 6-2 Guard | 2026

Putnam guard / Canadian native Kamai Samuels was one of our main standouts throughout the open gym period. Since arriving in the offseason, Samuels has showcased his competitiveness, his will to win and ‘refuse to lose’ mentality. He is a constant attacker in transition and plays with a sense of fearlessness as he nears the rim, always looking to add a new clip to the highlight reel. On the other end, he’s one of the best POA defenders within the region with the lateral quickness and hand speed to blow plays up on and off the ball. Samuels will be a hugely impactful player from day 1 on a reloaded PSA squad.

Hunter Te Ratana | Darrow School (NY) | 6-3 Guard | 2026 *Committed: Mercyhurst

The Mercyhurst commit played on a loaded BABC 17U squad where he functioned as more of a role player who was a productive slasher and spot-up option. At Darrow, he is expected to be the team's primary scoring option, a role he has already demonstrated he is capable of fulfilling. As a junior, Te Ratana was aggressive on O, even displaying movement shooting ability. Defensively, he has the requisite off-ball instincts to read passing lanes, but still has moments where he’s less effective on the ball. Expect the senior guard to produce at a high clip this season for Darrow.

Jaylin Williams-Crawford | CATS Academy (MA) | 6-7 Wing | 2026 *Committed: Towson

CATS Academy 2026 wing and Towson-commit Jaylin Williams-Crawford first captured our attention in the summer of 2024. ‘JWC’ showcased his tremendous defensive ability with 4-5 “stocks” in each game that we saw. Not only was he impactful in on-ball defensive settings, but his ability to understand correct rotations and cover ground efficiently stood out. He’s a guy that remains stoic and even-keeled across a variety of settings. Offensively, he still feels like a work-in-progress, but since he will be playing on the CATS Prep team this upcoming year, it should allow him to expand his on-ball opportunities and grow through game repetitions. His defensive skills, intensity, and basketball IQ should secure him playing time from day one at the next level. The key to reaching his ultimate potential will be his offensive development, which would make him a strong candidate for a future transfer up.

New Kids on the Block

With basketball season heating up, a fresh crop of talent is stepping onto the scene, ready to make some noise. These young players have already been impressing at their respective schools, showcasing skills that hint at bright futures ahead. Here’s a look at *just some* of the 'new kids on the block' in the classes of 2028 and 2029 that we recommend keeping an eye on.

Tighe Arache | St. Paul’s School (NH) | 6-3 Guard | 2029

One of the best young players in the New England area happens to also be one of the youngest as well. Turning 15 in January, Arache plays with a confidence and feel of someone multiple years older. He’s a 6-3 combo guard with a tight handle who generates a lot of defensive attention when he has the ball in his hands. Arache is also a capable mover off the ball, consistently putting himself in the right area, providing relief for his teammates. He’s a high-effort rebounder who pursues rebounds outside of his area. Overall, Arache is a talented young prospect with a high skill level who will continue to improve as a leader and enhance his overall strength over time.

Brandyn Clarke | New Hampton School (NH) | 6-7 Wing | 2028

One of the youngest members on a reloaded New Hampton team, we first saw Clarke at this year's NERR E75 and again at New Hampton Open Gym. Clarke is a super active presence on the floor, especially on and around the glass on both ends. The sophomore is unafraid to compete and fight for rebounds with consistency, both in and out of his area. With as many on-ball talents that New Hampton has, and with Clarke’s relative youth, he projects as more of a connective piece this year. The frame (at 6-7 and 200 lbs.), high motor, rebounding ability, and long term defensive potential make Clarke one of the more intriguing 2028 names to know in the region.

Adriel Cantave | St. George’s School (RI) | 6-3 Guard | 2028

Cantave was typically used as an off-the-bench role player for St. George’s during the 2024-25 season, but will be expected to be one of the team’s key players on the 2025-26 squad. Over the summer, Cantave has grown, improved his strength and his overall athletic ability. He’s a growing floor general with a quick burst and change of pace. He’s currently at his best as a downhill attacker who impacts the game offensively in a variety of ways. He also excels as a passer, especially in transition and with hit-aheads, but he can also make a variety of tight window passes. Expect Cantave to take a nice step forward as a sophomore.

Wiji Dak | Tilton School (NH) | 6-3 Guard | 2028

Dak made the move to the Tilton School after winning a state championship at Bedford High School in New Hampshire during the 2024-25 season. Dak has a great physical upside for a 2028, with a solid foundational feel offensively. His outside shot remains a work in progress as he continues to refine his mechanics and consistency. Defensively, he makes an effort – both on and off of the ball – remaining vocal and communicating throughout the possession. Dak’s transfer to Tilton will expose him to a higher level of competition, making him a name to continue to monitor, long term.

Kyle “Bright” Delves | Mount St. Charles Academy (RI) | 6-1 Guard | 2028

Heading into his second season at Mount. St. Charles, Delves is the leader of his team. Throughout our experience at open gym, Delves was consistently leading his team in warm-ups and drills, encouraging his teammates as they had to run — and as a result, the team, and coaching staff has full trust in him. Delves thrives as a passer in the open court, consistently looking to push the ball up the floor as quick as he can, eager to throw it up for one of his bigs running the lane. Delves is a cerebral operator in pick-and-roll settings, showcasing an ability to maintain the advantages that he creates, make pocket passes to rolling bigs, or finish at the rim. We’ll continue to track him as one of the top guards in the region.

Chance Finlayson | St. George’s School (RI) | 6-6 Wing | 2029

Finlayson enters his first season at St. George’s with high expectations. After a successful summer with Expressions Elite and a few standout performances in the early NERR E75 events, Finlayson has begun to establish himself as one of the top 2029s in the entire region. He’s a powerful finisher in the open floor, especially as someone who can grab defensive rebounds and push. The 2029 wing showed his competitiveness throughout the open gym that we attended, frequently wanting to go at, and compete against teammate Dywane Chess. His natural tools are impressive for someone his age, as he’s more physically developed than his peers. Finlayson should be on plenty of high-major  radars in the coming years.

Elijah Murray | St. Francis Prep (NY) | 6-6 Wing | 2029

Murray put the New York basketball scene on notice at The Preview, as one of the events’ top performers. It’s easy to see why many are high on the freshman’s long term upside. He has a rare blend of fluidity and ball skills for his size and age, with immense upside as a wing scorer. Consider this, along with his NBA lineage as the grandson of Hank Whitney and cousin of Lamar Odom, and it’s easy to envision a sky-high ceiling for Murray. He should have a chance to make a great impact in year one as part of a promising young core for St. Francis Prep.

Derek Swartz | Portsmouth HS (NH) | 6-5 Guard | 2028

Swartz made a name for himself throughout the AAU season with Mass Rivals, gaining experience playing up. He thrives as a straight-line driver and complements this skill with his ability to elevate over defenders as he gets into his turnaround jumper. Swartz plays with an advanced feel in the open floor, running wide and filling lanes without the ball and looks to make the right decision when the ball does get into his hands. Athletically, he is superior than most prospects this age – pair that with a big time motor and energy level across the board and you have one of the more exciting players in New England’s sophomore class.

Maxx Tjogondjoza | Long Island Lutheran (NY) | 6-8 Forward | 2028

One of a few returners for the Crusaders, Tjogondjoza may be one of the best-kept secrets in high school basketball. He had a standout run this summer for the United Kingdom in EuroBasket and is looking to build on that momentum as a strong two-way presence for LuHi. He is an incredibly skilled shooter with excellent shot prep and mechanics, plenty capable of the no-dip three. Beyond this, he plays on both ends with a high-level feel, has some standout physical tools as a fluid 6’8” wing, and profiles to have even more upside to grow into. Don’t be surprised if he develops into a national name in this 2028 class.

Michai White | Brewster Academy (NH) | 6-0 Guard | 2028

White makes the move to Brewster Academy after spending the 2024-25 season at St. Benedict’s Prep in New Jersey. The sophomore brings a shiftiness to the backcourt with the ability to consistently generate paint touches after breaking down defenses. White loves to operate in the open floor with the ability to finish on his own or keep his head up looking to find a teammate. Defensively, he is a stout POA defender who consistently provides ball pressure, visibly making his matchups uncomfortable. White has consistently shown that he is unafraid to play against any level of competition and should be able to have an impact early at Brewster.
