Standing 6’6”+ and weighing in at around 185 pounds, Chris Bunch has the ideal size and matching skill-set to play on the wing at the college and pro levels. While COVID-19 has slowed the overall recruitment process for high school prospects, Bunch has continued to earn offers from multiple high major programs, despite a worldwide pandemic. He brings high BBIQ, defensive versatility, outside shooting, and budding creating/playmaking abilities to any roster.

As part of the Pro Insight Q&A series, Bunch discusses various aspects of his game, provides an update on his current college recruitment, his class of 2022 rankings, his off-court interests, and more.

For the next installment of the Pro Insight Q&A series, we present 2022 prospect Chris Bunch, from Alamo, California:

Pro Insight: Tell us about your background.

Chris Bunch: Right now I live in Alamo, California.

PI: How would you describe your game?

CB: I’m a really good shooter: I can shoot off the dribble, I have a pull-up game. I’m working on my handles right now. Mainly, if I’m wide open it’s 100% going in.

PI: What are some underrated aspects of your game?

CB: My rebounding — I think I can push the ball in transition better than others. And definitely my defense.

PI: What are some things you’re working on?

CB: Definitely my handles and my body. My core and all that type of stuff. Still lifting right now so that’s what I’m working on, mainly.

PI: Did you play any other sports growing up?

CB: I played football when I was younger.

PI: Rank the top-five wings in the 2022 class.

CB: Me, Emoni Bates, Chris Livingston, I wouldn’t say Zion Cruz is a wing, but more of a shooting guard, and Skyy Clark as a shooting guard, he’s not really a point guard to me.

PI: What’s the current update with your recruitment?

CB: Right now I’m just looking at every school, trying to see what the best situation is for me and my family.

PI: Who have you heard from lately?

CB: Syracuse, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Oregon, Virginia, and a lot of other schools in the PAC-12, Big 12, and ACC.

PI: Is anybody recruiting you the hardest?

CB: Everybody is recruiting me equally.

PI: Do you have any dream schools?

CB: No dream schools, but I’ve always been a huge Duke fan.

PI: What type of system best fits your playing style?

CB: I can fit in any system, whether it’s running off screens or isolation type ball. It just depends on what the coaches need me to do and that’s what I’m going to do.

PI: How do you see your role at the next level?

CB: Being that main guy.

PI: What’s your biggest passion outside of basketball?

CB: I like to skateboard and I’m somewhat of a poet, but other than that not much else.

PI: How would you rate yourself on 2K

CB: Since all rookies get rated pretty low I would say like a 75. I’m not going to give myself a low rating, but right in the medium where I can get better.

PI: What are four words that best describe you?

CB: Kind. On the basketball court I’m a killer. I’m really compassionate and very courageous.
